Junior Robotics Software Engineer

Location: Chennai, India

Type: Full-Time (On-site)

Team: Engineering – Controls & Automation

Impaqt Robotics is at the forefront of industrial automation, developing intelligent robotic systems and modular automation solutions for manufacturing and logistics. Our mission is to simplify robotic deployment through robust software, smart hardware design, and production-ready systems. As we expand our robotics platform, we are building core capabilities in motion planning, manipulation, and intelligent automation.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Junior Robotics Software Engineer – Path Planning & Manipulation to develop, scale, and productionize the motion planning stack for our collaborative palletizing solution, cobotizur.

This role focuses on taking path planning algorithms from simulation to real-world deployment ensuring reliability, scalability, and ease of assembly. You will work closely with robotics hardware, production, and product teams to deliver a system that can be deployed consistently across customer environments.

The software developed in this role will form the foundation for future robotics products, offering strong long-term growth and ownership opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, improve, and scale path planning and motion planning algorithms for 6-axis robotic manipulators
  • Implement motion planning using ROS2 and MoveIt (or similar) for robots such as Universal Robots and FANUC
  • Validate planning performance in Gazebo simulations and on real robotic hardware
  • Integrate path planning software into the Cobotizur production software stack
  • Evaluate and recommend hardware components required for reliable deployment
  • Package and deploy software in a production-ready environment (Docker preferred)
  • Create clear SOPs and technical documentation to enable assembly and production teams to:
    • Assemble systems correctly
    • Deploy software reliably
    • Perform basic troubleshooting
  • Develop basic backend logic and a lightweight frontend interface to interact with the path planning system

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechatronics, Robotics, CS, or EEE
  • 1+ years of experience in controls/automation/robotics
  • Strong proficiency in C++
  • Hands-on experience with ROS2
  • MoveIt or similar path planning software framework experience (mandatory)
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Inverse kinematics
    • Path planning
    • Robot manipulators
  • Experience with Gazebo or similar simulation environments

Good to Have
  • Docker for software packaging and deployment
  • Python for backend logic, tooling, or scripting
  • JavaScript / React for basic frontend development
  • Experience working with industrial robots (UR, FANUC, ABB, KUKA, etc.)

Why Join Us?
  • Work on production-grade robotics software deployed in real industrial environments
  • Own a core robotics capability rather than a narrow feature
  • Gain hands-on exposure to hardware, assembly, and customer deployments
  • Grow into a senior robotics or platform engineering role as the product portfolio expands
  • Collaborate with a fast-moving team building scalable automation systems

We welcome applications from motivated candidates with strong fundamentals and a passion for robotics, even if they do not meet every qualification listed.
